YT Rings In The New Season With Launch Of The 2016 CAPRA AL

With a fresh look and updated components such as the brand new RockShox Lyrik on the Comp 1, the Goat is once again ready to do its Alpha-mountain-animal reputation justice. Already a seasoned fighter, the critically acclaimed and often prized enduro is coming out swinging and ready for round 2.

There is hardly another bike on the market that has drawn as much attention as the CAPRA. First came the carbon version in 2014, which was not only discussed and tested at length but also many times the recipient of prestigious titles and awards. This “universal weapon” from YT was among other designated “Enduro Bike of the Year”, impressing riders with its all-round capabilities: excellent climbing manners and maximum shred factor downhill are no longer mutually exclusive, thanks to the CAPRA’s unique geometry. Good reason for YT to continue with the winning formula: a gravity-oriented interpretation of the enduro segment.

Whether heading to the bike park, racing enduro, or just shredding single track, CAPRA sets you up for any terrain.

New for 2016 is an entry-level segment, featuring a well-balanced component selection to provide Young Talents on a shoe-string budget a proper tool for pinning it – Good Times guaranteed!

YT Industries to Auction off Rampage Signature Frames for Paul Basagoitia

This year’s Red Bull Rampage was overshadowed by the serious injury of Paul Basagoitia. The American’s life is now thankfully out of danger, but he will still have to undergo a lengthy and costly rehabilitation process. For this reason, Rampage sponsor YT has decided to auction off its TUES CF Rampage Signature Frames and to donate the proceeds towards Paul Basagoitia’s medical costs.

Mountain biking is an activity which by its very nature involves a lot of risk, and Red Bull Rampage is one of the most extreme sporting events of all time. The riders prepare meticulously onsite for a week and they participate knowing the risks, but injuries are part of reality for these athletes – they are in principle impossible to avoid, even when you benefit from the best possible medical assistance onsite. The tragic accident of Paul Bas makes this very clear.

After a long and complicated operation Paul is out of immediate danger and he is expected to progress towards recovering from his injuries. However, he has a long and hard road ahead of him, and one that is very costly.

Red Bull Rampage sponsor YT Industries has therefore decided to auction off on eBay the 4 Rampage Signature Frames that Andreu Lacondeguy, Cam Zink, Kelly McGarry and Yannick Granieri rode in Utah. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go towards Paul Basagoitia’s medical costs. Said YT’s CEO Markus Flossmann: “Our thoughts and our best wishes are with Paul and his family. We sincerely hope he will make a full recovery! He faces difficult times however, and rehabilitation can be very costly. As we know, pro mountain bikers don’t exactly earn football salaries, which makes that financial burden so much more difficult to bear. With the auction of our Rampage frames we want to at least make a small contribution to assist Paul and his family. We also hope that the mountain bike community will consider participating!”

The 4 TUES CF Rampage Signature frames will be put up for auction on eBay as of Thursday October 23:

Alchemy Bicycles Announces The Arktos

It's been a long time coming, but we finally launched our full-suspension mountain bike. The Arktos, Greek for bear, was modeled to be your all-mountain bike. We worked closely with industry leading rear suspension engineer, Dave Earle, on a unique dual-linkage system dubbed Sine Suspension. When graphed, the movement of this system resembles a sine wave. This system is designed to take full advantage of the rear shock. It is regressive during the first bit of travel, absorbing small bumps and rocks, progressive through the middle to handle the big hits and fast curves, then regressive over the final movement to utilize the full range of travel.

Staying true to our brand, we are making the full carbon front triangle in house using our proprietary carbon-layup methods. The rear triangle and linkage will be manufactured by Dave Earle to our design and carbon-layup specifications, then assembled and painted at our Denver facility.
The Arktos has 6 inches of travel, spec'd with 650b wheelset, and compatible with a 1x drive train. This bike will come in four stock sizes, S, M, L, and XL.The shifter and brake cables will be internally routed through the frame as well as the dropper post cable, if desired. Every aspect of this bike was built with consideration for style and performance!

We launed the Arktos at Interbike 2015 and have garnered a lot of press and excitement around this bike! We will be market ready in early 2016, but we are already gathering pre-orders for those eager to be first on the trail. Canyon Welcomes Freeride Legend Darren Berrecloth

It’s official. Darren Berrecloth, one of the seminal names in freeriding, now rides for Canyon. If there’s anyone out there who needs no introduction, it’s Darren. As part of the Canyon Factory Freeride Team, the Claw will add experience to the setup unmatched by anybody else on the circuit.

“At my first meeting with the guys from Canyon, I immediately felt like I would be welcomed into a family. From that point on Canyon was my top pick for a brand to partner with. Everyone I’ve met has been laid back and easy going, and we’ve got some big plans I can’t wait to get started with.” – Darren Berrecloth

“With Darren on board we’re super lucky to have another one of the biggest names in the sport riding for us. Few riders out there compare to Darren when you look at what he’s done for mountain biking. Freeriding is what it is today because of him. He’s an inspiration to so many riders and we’ve now got the chance to showcase all his experience and talent. There are so many cool ideas flying around right now that we cannot wait to make happen together.” – CFFT Manager, Flo Goral.

It all kicks off this weekend. Darren is busy prepping lines to ride on his new Torque DHX at the 2015 Red Bull Rampage, where he will make his official Canyon debut.

Canyon was founded in 1985 as Radsport Arnold and was officially renamed Canyon Bicycles GmbH in 2001. Bikes have been sold under the Canyon name since 1996. Everything from product development, assembly and direct sales of their mountain bikes, road bikes and triathlon bikes in addition to accessories and clothing takes place in Koblenz, Germany. In 2015 will introduce a range of Fitness and Urban bikes for the first time. Canyon employs its own engineers, composites experts, designers and quality controllers to ensure in-house quality management of the highest level. In recent years Canyon has been named several times as the most sought-after mountain bike and road bike brand throughout German-speaking countries. Canyon has numerous awards to its name, including the German Design Award.

YT Presents the Red Bull Rampage Signature Frames

This year’s Red Bull Rampage, held on October 17, will be a true celebration for YT Industries as well. As an official sponsor of the world’s biggest freeride event YT will send 5 riders to compete in the Utah desert: last year’s champion Andreu Lacondeguy, 2010 winner Cam Zink, Yannick Granieri, Kelly McGarry, and Robbie Bourdon. The YT designers have of course risen to the occasion and produced a series of brand new TUES CF signature frames based on the current geometry.

The Red Bull Rampage is THE event of the year, one that every rider dreams of. It is not only the final event of the FMB World Tour, but also the definitive prototype of big mountain freeride events, which also happens to be where YT Industries comes from. For such an occassion, which is also streamed live to audiences worldwide, it is only natural to want to dress up.

For last year’s champ Andreu Lacondeguy a FEST Series inspired theme: Rock n’ Roll on two wheels featuring an open-mouthed snake and the 2 FEST Series hands holding the YT logo. Just as you would expect from the freeride rock star.

Cam Zink embodies the American athlete. In addition to his sponsor’s logo, Cam is proud to rep the “Home of the Brave” with the Stars and Stripes – add the flag of his native Nevada and the job is done.

Frenchman Yannick Granieri is naturally patriotic and will fly the Tricolore’s blue-white-red high over the Canyon Gap. He will tackle the drops as a true Rampage pirate, with a buccaneer flag and tentacles on his frame.

Kelly McGarry opted out of the ubiquitous Kiwi in favor of New Zealand’s flag adorned with a tornado and an upturned cow. The long-haired whirlwind is back looking for trouble again in 2015!
