SCOTT SPORTS Donates Six Frames to Benefit #irideforpaul

Carlsbad, CA – SCOTT Sports has partnered with the Road 2 Recovery Foundation to help raise funds for injured SCOTT rider Paul Basagoitia.  Paul suffered a spinal injury while competing at the Red Bull Rampage in October, and he has been undergoing medical treatment and physical therapy since then. As soon as Paul’s injuries became widely known, Road 2 Recovery began a fundraising page dedicated to supporting his treatment and recovery. Now, Road 2 Recovery is hosting a raffle drawing for the frames which are being donated by SCOTT.

SCOTT Sports is providing three Gambler 710 frames, one team replica Gstaad-SCOTT Gambler 710 Frame, one Voltage FR frame, and one very unique Spark 700 RC which was raced by four-time XC World Champion Nino Schurter at the World Championship in Hafjell, Norway. This custom painted Spark 700 is one of only two existing in the world!

“Aaron Cooke and the Road 2 Recovery project are awesome,” said Zack Vestal, Bike Marketing Manager. “From early on, the hashtag and page #irideforpaul have been the most visible and consistent fundraising vehicle for Paul. We hope these frames make a cool contribution to the ongoing efforts of Road 2 Recovery and the entire mountain bike community.”

You can visit the Road 2 Recovery website and donate towards #irideforpaul on the specific bike frame you would like to win for the holidays.  Each $10 donation will enter you to win once, a $20 donation will enter you twice and a $50 donation will enter you six times!  Each of the six bikes will have randomly chosen winners independently so donate on the page showing the bike you are most interested in or donate on them all.  The final drawing will occur on January 4th at noon PST.

As has been widely reported, initial details of Paul’s injury were vague but it was found shortly after that he suffered spinal cord damage and a fractured T12.  Paul has been putting forth a massive effort at rehabbing his injury and was recently discharged from Craig Hospital in Colorado which is known around the world as being one of the best facilities for Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury. He’s now home in Reno, NV.

Paul’s girlfriend Nichole Munk gave us an update, saying, “He’s getting there.  Still not a ton of movement with his right foot/ankle.  His left foot is improving with some movement.  The muscle groups he has are building quite a bit so he’s getting stronger all around.”

2016 Canfield Balance Announced

Striking a balance between efficient pedaling and all-out descending—an elusive feat claimed by many, realized by few. The all-new Canfield Brothers Balance is slacker, lower, faster and stronger, yet thanks to the patented Canfield Balance Formula suspension, it is an incredibly efficient pedaler capable of earning its turns.

Based on the efficient all-rounder that the ‘Bros rolled out in 2014, but calling on the hucking heritage of the original pedalable freeride rig that debuted a decade ago, the 2016 Canfield Brothers Balance was re-engineered with longer travel (165 millimeters/6.5 inches) and a lower leverage ratio for more consistent, smooth travel under hard riding, and a more progressive end stroke to swallow big hits. An all-new CNCed upper link increases stiffness, while a redesigned rear triangle improves tire clearance, and the entire frame is now crafted from bombproof 7005-series aluminum.

Features:
• 27.5” Aggressive All Mountain
• 7005 aluminum with an all new, stiff CNC’d upper link
• Patented Canfield Balance Formula Suspension
• 165mm travel
• 216mm x 63mm Cane Creek Double Barrel Air CS included
• 142 x 12mm rear dropouts, axle included
• Tapered headtube
• 15mm and 20mm pivot bearings
• Replaceable rear derailleur hanger, spare hanger included
• Anodized and factory raw frame options
• Available in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large

Happy Birthday White Style

Design your own obstacle and win a VIP package including a meet&greet, overnight stay and awesome prizes such as a GoPro HERO 4 Session

Saalfelden Leogang, Austria, November 26th 2015 – Mountain bike slopestyle on snow celebrates a decade of action in January 2016 in Saalfelden Leogang. White Style is an FMB Silver Event and attracts some of the world’s best athletes. To celebrate the anniversary on January 29th, Saalfelden Leogang is giving fans the chance to try their own skills on snow during the Scott Snow Downhill Race as part of the LINES schneefräsn Cup. Fans will also have the once in a lifetime opportunity to design their own White Style obstacle which will be integrated into the huge course made of snow. Judged by an expert panel, the winner of the design your obstacle contest will receive a VIP package such as a meet&greet, overnight stay and awesome prizes valued at over 1,500 Euro including a GoPro HERO 4 Session.

Further information about the contest can be found on: HERE

White Style premiered in 2006 in the Leogang Nitro Snowpark and had featured jumps between 6 – 10 meters (20-35ft). Austrian rider Niki Leitner impressed the judges with a huge superman seatgrab and claimed the first victory at a mountain bike slopestyle event on snow. After that it was like a snowball effect – the venue was moved, the course was longer and larger jumps were built and straight away big names were signing up to compete in this unique event. Most of today’s freeride and slopestyle stars have a history with White Style: the wild Spaniard Andreu Lacondeguy won the contest in 2009 and two years later in 2011, Sam Pilgrim from Great Britain earned himself a victory. This year, Szymon Godziek from Poland stacked the highest score and took his first win of the season in Legoang. More legends including Martin Söderström, Darren Berrecloth, Cam McCaul, Graham Aggasiz, Trond Hansen or Jamie Goldman have all made their way to White Style in the past.

White Style is the earliest opportunity for athletes to show their new tricks – so as the event grew – so did the trick level. In 2009 Lance McDermott (GBR) threw down the first front flip tuck no-hander in an international mountain bike contest. Unfortunately, he slipped a pedal but still claimed the "Sickest trick Award“. Sam Reynolds was headline news in 2012 thanks to his massive double backflip. In 2013 the Russian showman Pavel Alekhin was a clear Best Trick winner with a backflip double tailwhip. A year later in 2014, Nicholi Rogatkin began making ripples when he landed the Cashroll on snow – just one year after Adrian Tell’s successful attempt in 2013.

Big names can only nail big tricks on big courses! Which is why the White Style course has had to grow along with the sport. Over the years, the jumps have got bigger, boner logs and igloo step-downs have been integrated. Now, you can also be a White Style Champion! All you need to do is get creative! Design the obstacle you would like to see in the 2016 White Style course and submit your drawing by December 31st 2015. The winner will receive a VIP package such as a meet&greet, overnight stay, awesome prizes valued at over 1,500 Euro including a GoPro HERO 4 Session and have the honor of watching the best slopestyle riders trick the feature! MTB legend and sports director Tarek Rasouli, White Style host and director of the Leoganger Bergbahnen Kornel Grundner, course designer Markus Hampl and last year’s winner Szymon Godziek will decide which drawing will become real. Further information can be found on: bike.saalfelden-leogang.com/en/events/2016/white-style-2016/design-your-obstacle-2016/

The prizes:

  • VIP-Package incl. White Style, Meet&Greet with the riders and an overnight stay in the region Saalfelden Leogang in a 4**** hotel for two
  • GoPro HERO4 Session
  • EVOC Bike Travel Bag
  • Gloryfy Brille Gi2 DeJaVu Angel
  • Tires from Maxxis
  • Bike Protector backpack from Scott
  • Helmet, protectors, glasses from iXS

  • Volvo Life Paint

For White Style’s 10th anniversary, get on your bike for the Scott Snow Downhill Race, win great prizes from Scott and collect precious points for the LINES schneefräsn Cup, that involves also contests in Lienz, Virgen and Semmering. First place for men and women is worth 100 points and the riders with the most points after all four events take the overall win. Registration will be possible on site. Lapierre Gravity Republic - Moving On To New Horizons!

After 8 years of partnership, 2016 will mark the end of the journey shared by Lapierre & Pure Agency, who managed Team Lapierre Gravity Republic. Both partners are launching new challenges for the next season, after climbing to the top of the world in 2015.

In the paddocks, the continuous progression of Team Lapierre Gravity Republic since the very beginning has not passed unnoticed. Crowned best UCI Gravity team in 2014 with Loic Bruni, Loris Vergier, Sam Blenkinsop and Emmeline Ragot; the team claimed the ultimate title in 2015: the Elite Men’s World Championship jersey, to draw the curtains on an amazing adventure. In total: 4 overall World Cup victories, 3 World Championship titles and dozens of podiums… What a way to end!

Gilles Lapierre, MD of Cycles Lapierre, reflects on this achievement: « It has been an incredible adventure at the side of talented riders and renowned staff. We can’t forget that we started from scratch! Over the years we have battled with the best MTB teams in the world. Loic Bruni’s title of World Champion has been the grand finale of this adventure, we couldn’t have hoped for better. It’s now time to move on.
The end of DH sponsoring does not mean the end of Team Lapierre Gravity Republic as we are staying very active in Enduro, which continues to develop with the Enduro World Series. Nicolas Vouilloz, who we don’t need to present, & Adrien Dailly, winner of the EWS U21 in 2015 will have new teammates for 2016 … You’ll be hearing more about this soon.
We are therefore staying committed to MTB competition. We are also supporting the development of e-bike competition, which is undergoing massive expansion, and for which our Overvolts are already a reference. Many new challenges lie ahead of us once again!

An incredible showpiece for Lapierre’s savoir-faire, the Team help develop their MTBs to benefit from the cutting edge technology. Our latest DH model, launched in 2014, won its first race at the Fort William round of the World Cup with Emmeline Ragot. Loris Vergier then became Junior World Champion on this machine a few months later. He was followed by Loic Bruni using it to take the ultimate title in septembre 2015 à Vallnord. The final proof, if it was needed, that this collaboration functioned in the best possible manner.

Laurent Delorme, Manager of Pure Agency, looks back on the years of partnership:
« Working with Lapierre for 8 years was an amazing adventure.  Gilles Lapierre, the teams at his side and all the company were  a reliable and efficient support, right from the start.
With a strategy of developing young talents, we have pulled the performances of our riders to the highest level, thanks to the technological innovations responding to the needs of competition.
Gilles, particularly involved in this project, both when we were victorious and in the hard times, always knew how to drive our performances. We are proud to have grown with Lapierre. »

Thank you to all our partners who have followed Team Lapierre Gravity Republic during these eight years.

Danny MacAskill With A New EVOC Signature Series And Website Relaunch

Munich, November 23rd 2015 – Christmas is coming up and like every year the mad present
panic begins. So what is your wish to Santa? EVOC’s new MacAskill street line makes it easy for people to travel the world, but there are many more ideas for keen bikers on Danny MacAskill’s new website: http://dannymacaskill.co.uk

A three-piece travel set with a single look and feel: Danny's new EVOC signature series is matched to the smallest detail. Together with the designers of the Munich-based company, the Scottish street trials rider has developed a luggage series, which is simply “spot on”. A bike travel bag, trolley suitcase and street backpack are all tailored to the needs of bike fans. For an athlete like Danny who is a frequent traveler, it was important to make the bags functional and simple. "I am quite disorganized when I travel, so I needed something that will help me at least try and stay neat and tidy while I’m away from home” – said Danny when asked about his new signature series collaboration with EVOC. “My bike, laptop, helmet and GoPro never leave my side when I travel, so it was important for me that my luggage set up has easy access but also keeps them safe from knocks and scratches.” The grey material sets the tone for all three products and is a theme linking back to Danny’s Scottish heritage and traditional tweed materials. "The cooperation with EVOC was great.” – said Danny. “They supported my ideas and in the end three products came out just how I wanted them to be. I am particularly happy with the backpack which is comfortable, functional, lightweight and looks pretty fresh.”

The largest item and for Danny the most precious is the BIKE TRAVEL BAG MacAskill – the new casual-looking bike bag can be used for air, car or train travel. Any bike can be quickly and securely packed with minimum disassembly. Less time building the bike and more time riding it! The two separate side wheel compartments and the weight of the frame are deliberately situated towards the rear section of the bag to ensure the center of gravity is distributed onto the stable undercarriage. The silent, smooth-running wheels take care of the rest.

His luggage goes into the durable, yet lightweight ROVER TROLLEY MacAskill suitcase. The trolley bag offers 80L of space, more than enough to pack everything you might need for a wild adventure. Weighing in at only 3600 g (7.94 lb) you can maximize that increasing smaller weight allowance on flights. No need to worry about dragging it around behind you either – the large wheels with solid bearings and mounts mean it is durable and easy to pull even on the toughest of street conditions. Just in case you come across any stairs, the removable and adjustable carrying straps will help make the climb easier. Designing the trolley bag – it quickly became clear that Danny has really experienced it all when travelling.

The last piece of the puzzle might be the smallest but is a must have – the STREET MacAskill, a casual city backpack. During the development process, Danny paid particular attention to this item. He was primarily thinking of students and wanted to create a backpack that you would always want to have with you when on the move. The 25L backpack is divided into several compartments and helps you maintain order, even in the greatest of chaos. A padded notebook compartment with quick side access means that any genius or crazy ideas can be quickly written down. “My ideas come to me in the strangest of times – very often when I am travelling and I see something random which inspires me. I am constantly making notes.” The secure compartment will keep valuable items nice and snug. Losing all your priceless photos and videos is painful – so the GoPro compartment comes with a special slot for the SD card. It will help keep your memories nice and safe! Last but far from least is the helmet holder. Easy removed or hidden away for the elegant look, this is ideal for any street rider.
