Danny MacAskill With A New EVOC Signature Series And Website Relaunch

Munich, November 23rd 2015 – Christmas is coming up and like every year the mad present
panic begins. So what is your wish to Santa? EVOC’s new MacAskill street line makes it easy for people to travel the world, but there are many more ideas for keen bikers on Danny MacAskill’s new website: http://dannymacaskill.co.uk

A three-piece travel set with a single look and feel: Danny's new EVOC signature series is matched to the smallest detail. Together with the designers of the Munich-based company, the Scottish street trials rider has developed a luggage series, which is simply “spot on”. A bike travel bag, trolley suitcase and street backpack are all tailored to the needs of bike fans. For an athlete like Danny who is a frequent traveler, it was important to make the bags functional and simple. "I am quite disorganized when I travel, so I needed something that will help me at least try and stay neat and tidy while I’m away from home” – said Danny when asked about his new signature series collaboration with EVOC. “My bike, laptop, helmet and GoPro never leave my side when I travel, so it was important for me that my luggage set up has easy access but also keeps them safe from knocks and scratches.” The grey material sets the tone for all three products and is a theme linking back to Danny’s Scottish heritage and traditional tweed materials. "The cooperation with EVOC was great.” – said Danny. “They supported my ideas and in the end three products came out just how I wanted them to be. I am particularly happy with the backpack which is comfortable, functional, lightweight and looks pretty fresh.”

The largest item and for Danny the most precious is the BIKE TRAVEL BAG MacAskill – the new casual-looking bike bag can be used for air, car or train travel. Any bike can be quickly and securely packed with minimum disassembly. Less time building the bike and more time riding it! The two separate side wheel compartments and the weight of the frame are deliberately situated towards the rear section of the bag to ensure the center of gravity is distributed onto the stable undercarriage. The silent, smooth-running wheels take care of the rest.

His luggage goes into the durable, yet lightweight ROVER TROLLEY MacAskill suitcase. The trolley bag offers 80L of space, more than enough to pack everything you might need for a wild adventure. Weighing in at only 3600 g (7.94 lb) you can maximize that increasing smaller weight allowance on flights. No need to worry about dragging it around behind you either – the large wheels with solid bearings and mounts mean it is durable and easy to pull even on the toughest of street conditions. Just in case you come across any stairs, the removable and adjustable carrying straps will help make the climb easier. Designing the trolley bag – it quickly became clear that Danny has really experienced it all when travelling.

The last piece of the puzzle might be the smallest but is a must have – the STREET MacAskill, a casual city backpack. During the development process, Danny paid particular attention to this item. He was primarily thinking of students and wanted to create a backpack that you would always want to have with you when on the move. The 25L backpack is divided into several compartments and helps you maintain order, even in the greatest of chaos. A padded notebook compartment with quick side access means that any genius or crazy ideas can be quickly written down. “My ideas come to me in the strangest of times – very often when I am travelling and I see something random which inspires me. I am constantly making notes.” The secure compartment will keep valuable items nice and snug. Losing all your priceless photos and videos is painful – so the GoPro compartment comes with a special slot for the SD card. It will help keep your memories nice and safe! Last but far from least is the helmet holder. Easy removed or hidden away for the elegant look, this is ideal for any street rider.

Hans Rey and Danny MacAskill Open New Trails In And Around Livigno

Livigno (ITA), July 21st 2015 – Livigno is expanding: as of last week the Italian bike resort has three new trails on its extensive bike map. On Thursday, a new route was opened in Val Minor, an important link between Livigno and Switzerland. On Saturday, Livigno’s longterm testimonial Hans Rey and friend, Danny MacAskill took the chance to test the two new flow trails located on the Carosello 3000 mountain.

Up and over: the new mountain pass from Livigno to Switzerland is 5.8 km/ 3.1 mi long and starts at the top of the Forcola Pass on the Swiss-Italian border. Riders can enjoy a last refreshment at the mountain hut before taking on the new trail with its 180 m/ 590 ft climb which takes about 50 minutes to reach the famous Ospizio Bernina station. Livigno and the two Swiss municipalities Poschiavo and Pontresina have successfully added a new mountain pass to the old demanding trails which took up to 4 hours to complete. This magical route is surrounded by untouched nature and stunning views of the glacier Vadret da Palu and its lake.

Having tested the new connecting trail with a bunch of bikers earlier in the week, Hans Rey took part in the official opening of the flow country trail at Carosello 3000 with non other than friend and fellow trials rider, Danny MacAskill. It is the first time Danny has come back to Livigno since 2012 when he last rode here with Hans “No Way” Rey. Together the two biking icons took laps on the new "Coast to Coast" (6 km/ 3.7 mi) and "Rollercoaster" (4 km/ 2.5 mi) trails. Their fine-tuned sequence of rhythmic jumps and berms give cyclists the feeling of ultimate flow and enjoyment.

In cooperation with Hans Rey and the flow country expert Diddie Schneider the local Alberto Clement and his crew have shaped a route that is ideal for both beginners and advanced riders. At the opening day, invited guests were impressed by the fun factor and readiness of the trails. "We worked hard but I’m really happy about the way Carosello 3000 have built the trails”, says Hans Rey. “You can recognize it’s real flow country because you look at the people’s face and they are smiling when they arrive at the bottom. We already have 10 km and it’s just the beginning. Livigno is one of the best places in the world for mountain biking and now we have all kind of trails." Danny MacAskill also liked the two new trails: "For me it’s always awesome to be here in Livigno. I rode already with Hans all over the valley and now riding the flow country trails as a pro rider I had the same enjoyment. I hope to be back again soon."

The flow trail project is far from over: further sections are in the planning. Another 4 km/ 2.5 mi trail will be already completed in mid-August. Check out that clip to get a taste of the new flow trails: https://youtu.be/-BQsQH2mu1g

Eager bikers should not waste any time coming to Livigno: the first event on the new trail takes place on August 2nd. As part of the Adventure Awards Festival (July 27th – August 2nd), the 3K Up & Down race is presented by the Adventure Awards, Carosello 3000 and crankbrothers. The principle is simple: 1 Pro-Rider, 100 participants, 2 lifts, a 13 km/ 8 mi long trail and 7 hours to ride as much as possible. How many times can you take the lift up and bike down in 7 hours? So gear up and we look forward to seeing you in Livigno!

The new video, "A Year in the Making" shows how the Drop and Roll Team comes together to create one of the most energetic and interactive live sports shows there is. For them, the hardships of building a custom made rig and traveling across Europe with a 3.5 tone trailer is nothing less than fun and adventure. Their new documentary gives you a glimpse at the challenges they overcame along the way.

“2014 was a lot of work getting Drop and Roll setup. This year will be awesome hitting the road again for more shows and filming trips.” – Dave Mackison

This crowd is probably going to be one of the raddest we have ever had. See you there....” – Danny MacAskill

In 2015, the Drop and Roll Tour will be travelling across Europe to perform at trade shows, festivals, town events, and other happenings. The team have spent the winter months dreaming up and creating new features and tricks to add in the shows. A Drop and Roll show is an interactive feast as commentator Henry Jackson gets the spectators involved in the show and dishes out loads of free gifts from the tour partners. Apart from the upcoming show at Riva del Garda, confirmed highlights include: The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup stop at Fort William (June 7-8, UK) and the largest bike trade show in the world, Eurobike (August 28-29, GER). Danny MacAskill Nominated For The 2015 Laureus World Sports Awards

Munich, March 3rd 2015 – Danny MacAskill’s wild ride on the Isle of Skye went viral on YouTube and has rewarded him with a second nomination for the Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year Award. In just two weeks after the release of the Scotsman’s latest video clip “The Ridge”, it quickly reached over 20 million views and now sits at over 30 million views. In an interview Danny MacAskill admits: “I never had any expectations of those kind of figures.”

Danny, who was also nominated in 2010, is once again on the shortlist with six other outstanding athletes: freefall record holder Alan Eustace, world champion surfers Stephanie Gilmore and Gabriel Medina, skateboard sensation Nyjah Huston and Olympic snowboard champion Sage Kotsenburg. If his obsession with bikes will make Danny the Action Sportsperson of the year, we will find out on Wednesday, April 15th, when the 16th Laureus World Sports Awards will be held in the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

Danny says: “It's awesome to be nominated for the second time. Last year was a good year. It’s cool to have it recognized. I'm up against some pretty incredible athletes. To be honest, it's quite surreal for me because I come from a non-competitive background, like [free-faller] Alan Eustace. But to be in a room with all those other athletes, it's very, very cool.”

Filming “The Ridge” was a long-standing dream for Danny. “I’ve wanted to make that film for a number of years. I originally come from the Isle of Skye and I've always looked up at the mountain there. I started making these videos for YouTube over the last few years and I knew that it would make an incredible backdrop for a film. The last time I was up, with [director] Stu Thomson, we put some time aside to make the film.”

The clip’s popularity was a big surprise for Danny. “We had very little expectations for the film. It was just made by ourselves, over quite a short period, only six days, which for me is a very short amount of time to make a film. We were very lucky with the weather. I can't quite believe how well it's gone down. I didn't really care if it was well received by a global audience. It was more important for me that people in Skye watched it and were proud of it. But to have it go down as well as it has, has been pretty cool,” he adds.

Used to performing and riding in urban surroundings closer to sea level – “The Ridge” was a brand new venture for the small town Scotsman. “Normally when I'm down at street level, you're able to push a lot harder. You do things that maybe are out of your capabilities or comfort zone. When it's up on “The Ridge”, you have to have your wits about you. And you couldn't really necessarily take those same risks, because the consequences are obviously a lot more serious. It was just a case of finding the good parts of riding and trying not to fall off.”

Danny fans, rest assured – Danny has some big projects on the horizon but prefers to keep them close to his chest for now. Also, Danny has started a team of riders called Drop and Roll – together they travel across Europe performing live shows. No matter what Danny sets his mind too, you can rest assured that it will involve a bike.
