The skies unleashed a bucket load of rain on Dunedin just as we arrived drenching everything on the hill, including me! Race day cleared up significantly and early morning practice and qualifying was rain-free but more slippery due to the baking mud. Song is 'Pump up the Doorbell' a White Stripes/Audiosurf mashup. The victorian downhill state series is back again, held up at Mt. Buller on the 14-15th of January, the track is ragged, beat up, loose, fast and that's why we all love it, not to mention the chairlift. Ask any punter what they think of the vdhs are they'll be in tears of joy, it's a pleasure to able to attend such a great series.
With the second round of the Gravity Cup only a week after this VDHS round, a lot of interstate riders came a week early to have there go at winning some extra cash.
The field was packed full of pinners. Rhys Atkinson showing his face after all the work he's been doing up at Buller, the regular interstate people, Eaton, McMillian, Fearon and all the Local victoria boys & gals.
Connor Fearon came down and qualified first with Ricky Boyer in second and Graeme Mudd third, with Rhys Atkinson crashing in qualifying, it was anyone's game.
Finals time came, Rhys was out for some sweet revenge on the track and came down with a smoking time, taking out first, fastest qualifier Connor Fearon was close behind with a second and all-round pinner Timmy Eaton finished off the top 3. Connor and Timmy are now neck to neck for the overall and either can win it, who's going to lay down the best run at the last round of the series.
As per normal, Dean Lucas took out the U19s with some awesome line choices and balls out riding, Dean has wrapped up the 2011/2012 Victorian Championship Overall with the win, so he can either chill or pin the next round? what will he do I wonder....
James Doerfling is making a huge name for himself right now, and this edit will show you why. He has incredible big mountain skills, style for miles, comes up with unique lines and makes massive drops look smooth.
The first round of the national downhill series hits sunny Queenstown and to the recently built Remarkables downhill track. Weeks of sun and lack of rain made the conditions dusty, loose and fast. Sorry its so short, keeping this series' videos short and sharp but the next one should be far better! Song is 'Idealistic' by 'Idealism'. Filmed/Edited by Tom Cuthbert. Next round is Dunedin!
