The half pound lighter Pivot Mach 429SL Carbon is the bike that you need when the course tests both your engine size and your handling skills. The space age chassis drops over 1/2lb (226g) via the use of leading-edge carbon fiber and our proprietary hollow-core, internal-mandrel process. This coveted production technology enables us to create best-in-class frames with the “lighter, stiffer, stronger” qualities that put the Mach 429SL Carbon at the top of the list. To achieve a huge reduction in weight and an increase in frame stiffness, our engineers looked for every possible advantage via optimizing the composite materials and lay-up structure in the 429’s huge, box-section downtube and bottom bracket area. From the tapered head tube to the highly-specific oversize rear triangle tube sections, nothing was left untouched when we made the Mach 429SL Carbon frame the lightest 29er chassis – with the best power transfer – available today.

Our mountain bikes feature the PF92 bottom bracket. Collaboratively developed by our engineers and Shimano, this allows for wider pivots and better bearing support, both of which contribute to increased frame stiffness and strength. Pivot Cycles Announces The Firebird 27.5

Whether you're sending it in Whistler, gunning for the overall in Downieville or pinning 30-minute descents on a 6-hour epic through the Rockies, the Firebird 27.5 has your back. By many accounts, the 26-inch version was the ultimate long-travel trail bike, revered for its unique combination of climbing traction, acceleration, and descending capabilities. That excellent pedigree made it the ideal starting point for a 27.5 chassis.
"The new Firebird 27.5-inch model takes everything that's great about the Firebird and makes it better. It's definitely a favorite around our office," offers Pivot president and CEO Chris Cocalis, "Within a line of very versatile bikes it stands out because it really is a quiver-of-one. It rewards and inspires confidence for an aggressive rider."
The original 26-inch Firebird was unique. The level of engineering sophistication, obsessive production tolerances and attention to detail rare qualities in the category. The 27.5 shares all of those attributes. For a brawler of a bike, there was (and still is) a ton going on both on the surface and under it, a quality defining all of Pivot's offerings.
The evolution to the 27.5-inch standard is a testament to Pivot's belief that boundaries exist to be pushed against, in this case re-engineering a very successful and award-winning platform to accommodate a wheel size that made more sense for its intended use.
To make the best even better, the headtube angle has been slackened, the low BB height maintained, and the amazing Fox Racing Shox 34 added, a 160mm travel 27.5-specific fork that complements already best-in-class handling.
The Firebird 27.5 continues the tradition of its predecessor. X-Fusion Sponsors Pivot Factory DH Team

Two years way from the World Cup DH scene, X-Fusion is proud to be back as the official suspension sponsor of the Pivot Cycles Factory DH Team. The team will primarily focus on the UCI World Cup downhill series, along with other high profile events such as Sea Otter and Crankworx. Team DH riders consist of Bernard Kerr and Austin “Bubba” Warren, and Bernard’s brother Bard Kerr who will focus on 4X.
Bernard commented, “The partnership between the factory Pivot team and X-Fusion is awesome. We couldn’t be more excited going into the 2013 season knowing we have XF’s knowledge and passion for racing behind us. We’re looking forward to working with them on and off the race track this coming season!”
While focusing on race results will be a primary goal, the Pivot Cycles Factory DH Team will also be a key asset in the development of XF products. Keep an eye out for them shredding DH tracks on their Vector HLR rear shocks and new XF forks.
