2015 VITTORIA Eastern States Cup Season Schedule

VITTORIA will be coming on board as the title sponsor for 2015 which is a move that has many people looking forward the upcoming season. "2015 is an exciting year for Vittoria. The storied Italian tire brand is making a hard push in the MTB segment, so aligning with a key event series like the Eastern States Cup is a natural progression of company culture. Vittoria was born from racing and we will continue our involvement with racers to create the best quality products on the market.” - Ken Avery,Vittoria North America Vice President.

"We are stoked to be the title sponsor of the 2015 Eastern States Cup. This is a big year for Vittoria since we recently rebranded GEAX under the Vittoria name. Our North American headquarters is in Boston, so an East Coast series is super important to us. Rumor is the 2015 ESC will be the best yet! We have a ton of tires to giveaway too, so we'll see you there!" - Devin Dube, Vittoria USA Marketing Coordinator.

“The Eastern States Cup is doing great things to grow gravity racing and we’re really excited about partnering with the series for the sixth year. We’ll be awarding a FOX DOSS seat post at every enduro with the FOX Enduro Climbers Challenge again this season.” Says Mark Jordan Fox’ global marketing and communications manager.

“DP Brakes are very excited to continue our partnership with the Eastern States Cup Family. With this type of high profile exposure and support to the racing audience, we hope to build a strong name in the mountain bike industry as well” - Larry Mills, President DP Brakes North America.

"We are really excited to be partnering with the Vittoria Eastern States Cup", says Bruce Dickman at ProGold. "This is a fun and demanding series and we believe our products will prove to be the obvious choice for athletes looking to keep their bikes running optimally. We're also excited to be providing our ProGold lubricants and washes to the 4th and 5th place finishers at every Vittoria ESC event this season!"

Series director George Ulmer is chomping at the bit to kick things off in 2015. "We are really proud to present the 2015 Vittoria Eastern States Cup's plan." he says. "This will be our 6th year hosting DH races and our 3rd season of enduro events. We are expanding the East Coast Showdown to three weekends. The Showdown weekends will feature both DH and Enduro essentially functioning as a mini-series within our regular series. Racers that compete in both disciplines will race for the East Coast Showdown Championship. We'll also be back at the Duryea Urban Downhill in Reading PA, the Windham World Cup Test Event and the "Race the World" DH race during the World Cup Weekend at Windham. Plattekill Mountain will kick off our Enduro Season and host the Atlantic and New England DH Finals while Killington will host our first East Coast Showdown Weekend and The Enduro Finals. We'll also have the Spring Classic ProGRT race at Mountain Creek Bike Park. Finally, we'll be topping off the season at the $5000 East Coast Super DH Championships at Mountain Creek Bike Park! It's going to be an incredible year and we can't wait to see everyone back at the races!"

George Brannigan Defends National Title

In a team 1-2 that saw Trek World Racing’s George Brannigan and Brook MacDonald claim the gold and silver at the New Zealand National Downhill Championships today in Rotorua, the team also saw the continuation of the title staying 'in house'. Since Justin Leov won the title in 2012, Trek World Racing riders have taken their Sessions to the winner’s circle 4 years running.

In a superb run today, George was the only rider to break the three minute barrier on the new course at the Skyline Rotorua Mountain Bike Gravity Park, finishing in 2mins 59.85secs. Brook took second with a 3m 03.35secs with both riders well clear of World Number 5 Sam Blenkinsop in third at 3mins 05.82secs.

George said he didn’t let the fact he was defending champion play on his mind.

“To be honest I just treated it like any other national race because in New Zealand everyone is so laid back, and I think that helped because I didn’t feel any pressure,” said Brannigan.

He also enjoyed the chance to retain his jersey on the new course.

“Everyone had to adapt to this new course, but it’s the style of track I like – fast and rough. Coming down I had a couple of moments, but that’s just natural because the track is so loose, so I was like ‘man I hope I stay on’, and I did.”

Brannigan had earlier set the fastest seeding time, with a 3:00.69 run, nearly five seconds better than his closest rival.

“I got three (minutes) flat in seeding and didn’t pedal too hard, so I knew I could break it (the 3 minute barrier) – so I just pedalled hard and it worked out”.

Both George and Brook take some time off from local racing now to focus on the upcoming events at Crankworx Rotorua at the end of next month.

Szymon Godziek Wins White Style 2015

Saalfelden Leogang, February 13th 2015 – Szymon Godziek rules victorious at the 9th edition of White Style. Swiftly followed by two Brits, Matt Jones in second and Daryl Brown in third. Next to the massive slopestyle course built from snow, spectators let it rip on the ski slope during The Big (Shr)ED – Fat Bike Battle. An amazing firework show rounded off the winter’s evening in Leogang with a bang!

Still in his prime, the Polish athlete Szymon Godziek takes the first podium of the 2015 season in Leogang. His winning run was full of variety, technical tricks and big bangers. Highlights included a smooth tailwhip, backflip barspin, frontflip, a sweet truckdriver off the boner log and big backflip tailwhip to finish. “I am so happy! I have been skiing so much recently I haven’t had the time to practice a lot but the course was great and I felt good. This is the best start to 2015 FMB season for me.” Always on the run – Szymon is now quickly heading back to Poland to celebrate his win (and valentines day) with his fiancé.

Right on Szymon’s heals was freshly anointed Red Bull athlete, Matt Jones from Great Britain. Matt dominated training and qualified first before the finals but just couldn’t quite bring it home in the finals. His run featured a slick 360 and technical 360 tailwhip, backflip tailwhip, truckdriver off the boner log and a huge backflip superman. If White Style is a sign of what’s to come – then Matt Jones should have an exciting season ahead of him. Staying positive, Matt is happy with his second place result: “I am smelling of champagne, so life is not bad!”

Finishing his last season with a win at FISE China, Daryl Brown starts his 2015 season with a third place at White Style. Maybe this is the start of something prosperous for the British rider. Sadly, he did not show off his signature one-hand superman seatgrab, but he did give the crowd an opposite truckdriver and huge backflip tuck no-hand to cheer for.

Between the White Style qualifying and finals, spectators could take part in a fun fat bike dual slalom race. The Big (Shr)ED – Fat Bike Battle was a huge success and really engaged with the fans – keeping them warm and energized while the athletes prepared for the big finale just next door. One White Style rider in particular may not have been on the podium but certainly has a reason to celebrate. French rider Mehdi Gani celebrated his 26th birthday today in Leogang. After qualifying, everyone gathered to wish him a happy birthday and a great 2015 season.

Perfect! That’s how event host Kornel Grundner from Bikepark Leogang summed up this year’s White Style. “Two thousand people came out to brave the winter and watch 20 riders from 11 nations perform spectacular tricks in Leogang. Perfect tricks, perfect course, great fans and spectacular riding made for an electric atmosphere and the perfect event. White Style was simply perfect!”

Uncle Dick Drops His Price

As of Feb 8th, 2015 Uncle Dick’s will be selling consumer direct at wholesale pricing. This means a 3 ounce tin of Uncle Dick’s Bead Slip sells for $10.50 plus shipping to you the buyer instead of the lofty $20.99. Brush bags, as UD likes to call them will also sell at the discounted pricing. “In our first year, distributors were the focus and we only picked up a handful of distributors in the US Market. With marginal sales growth and a host of end-users turned off by the high over the counter retail price it’s a good time to go direct, stated Rich Travis, founder of Uncle Dicks Bike Shop.

Dealer Service Centers, love the product because it’s a behind the counter product intended to help them get tire service out the door, fast. The product is rarely sold over the counter in the retail setting. Shops can continue to buy from distributors or uncledicksbikeshop.com and end-users can now buy direct. A host of bike businesses have been going direct for years. I think this is going to increase sales and end-user interaction 2 fold, both of which will enhance my abilities to follow customer needs and grow the business,” says Rich.

If you are new to Uncle Dick’s Products it’s designed to assist bicycle mechanics with tough tire installations. Such as seating beads and slipping a stubborn tire over a rim. The product allows quick and much safer tire installations for fat bikes and tubeless systems as well. Time is money for everyone so having a tin of bead slip at your bench is money and time made. Just whip the slip with a brush and apply to tire where needed.

Uncle Dick’s Bike Shop was launched back in October of 2013 with a host of great reviews and press coverage on the web. If you’d like to learn more about Uncle Dick’s products please visit us at http://uncledicksbikeshop.com and order these fine products at the new discounted price.
