Aaron Gwin and Rachel Atherton win round 3 of the UCI Mountain Bike World Downhill Cup in Leogang

Saalfelden Leogang in Salzburger Land, Austria, June 14th 2015 – Aaron Gwin stole the show in Leogang after winning the Men Elite race, with no chain! Rachel Atherton also had a fantastic day, winning her first ever World Cup in Leogang. This unbelievable day of racing rounds off the 2015 Out of Bounds Festival in Saalfelden Leogang. Watch Aaron Gwin’s amazing run and more race highlights here: win.gs/CrazyChainlessRun

The action began with a spectacular aerial show above Bikepark Leogang by Red Bull Air Race pilot Hannes Arch. As the racers began to come down, the clouds started to roll in and the wind got stronger. These tough conditions suited today’s Women Elite winner, Rachel Atherton (GBR). “I’ve been trying to win here a long time and I think today is the day when it started to rain so… I am really happy and really tired” – said Rachel Atherton. The women’s race was close, with Tahnee Seagrave (GBR) firmly in the hot seat after a pelting run. French rider, Emmeline Ragot looked strong and finished in third. Unfortunately, last year’s winner, Manon Carpenter was disqualified for crossing the tape and missing a gate. She will hope to score more points at round 4 in three weeks.

After the Women Elite, the men took to the Speedster track in Bikepark Leogang. Little did the ten thousand live spectators who lined the tapes and finish area realize what they were about to witness the most determined run in downhill history. Loic Bruni held the hot seat for a long time, then the top 10 riders came flying down and one-by-one, the pack was ruffled. But the man of the hour was Aaron Gwin who stormed out the gate, losing his rear derailer. On course without a chain, the American athlete opened the brakes and charged down the track to victory. “Last weekend was an awesome result and a pretty tough weekend. Leogang has been a lot better, I felt really good the whole weekend. The track is pretty good, you don’t need to pedal much so I just tried to tuck in and charge” – commented Aaron Gwin. This is the second time the World Cup leader has pulled a rabbit out of a hat after his bare rim run, right here in Leogang just last year. Aaron’s run today in Saalfelden Leogang will stay in the history books for many years to come.

The 21-year old Australian rider, Connor Fearon scored his best ever World Cup result finishing in second place. His run was riddled with high and low lines which formed a fast ride down the new Speedster track. Remi Thirion (FRA) came across the line incredibly fast and took the hot seat but eventually, his day in Leogang finished in third position. A great result for the Frenchman. Troy Brosnan (AUS), Greg Minnaar (RSA) and Gee Atherton (GBR) took the following three positions and will look to improve at the next stop in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on July 5th.

Antoine Bizet Wins The 2015 Leogang 26Trix

Saalfelden Leogang in Salzburger Land, Austria, June 13th 2015 – All day Antoine Bizet geared up for the run of his season and when it came down to the line, the Frenchman rode for glory in Bikepark Leogang at the FMB World Tour Gold event, 26TRIX during the Out of Bounds Festival. Knocked off the top spot in the last moment, Nicholi Rogatkin is satisfied with his second place and winning the GoPro Best Trick. Combo master, Thomas Genon takes third place on the podium.

The sun was out all day in Saalfelden Leogang and after the UCI Downhill World Cup qualifying took place, the FMB stars took to the dirt for the finals of 26TRIX. The crowds, 4000 strong, showed amazing amounts of stoke as the wind delayed the contest but when it calmed down, the action was back and the 10th edition of this historic dirt jump contest was on!

Ever since his double back flip tuck no-hand last year, Antoine Bizet is a crowd favorite here in the Austrian bike resort. Practice looked good and his run was on point, but sitting in 4th place after both final runs meant that his last hope of success was a third super final attempt. The crowd amped up the atmosphere and his winning run featured a cashroll, flatspin x-up, double backflip, backflip-360, barspin on the hip and front flip no hand on the last booter.

Nicholi has been on the top of his game from the start of the season and his performance at 26TRIX was no different. Consistent, well-executed tricks meant that he was the man to beat in today’s finals. Confident that his run would keep him in first place, he kept the score from his first run. The gamble didn’t pay off this time, but despite settling for second, he his happy with his result. Nicholi’s run featured a cashroll, tailwhip to barspin, double tailwhip, backflip-360, barspin and front flip barspin to finish. In addition to standing on the podium, Nicholi’s front flip barspin also won him the GoPro Best Trick contest.

On the other side of the podium is Thomas Genon. The Belgian rider is no stranger to the podium and although it was not his ultimate run, a backflip- 360, 360 downside whip, massive 360 invert, 360 tailwhip, tailwhip on the hip and stylish truckdriver to table was enough to secure third. Still eager to claim a victory in Leogang, Sam Reynolds finished fourth, just ahead of Tom van Steenbergen. Taking fifth, the Canadian will claim the event wildcard for the next FMB Diamond Event, Swatch Prime Line in Munich on June 27th.

Apart from the 10th anniversary, 26TRIX celebrated the participation of BMX legend Ryan Nyquist (USA), who entered his first dirt jump contest on a mountain bike. The 36-years old multi-time X Games medalist flew in from the US after just competing at X Games Austin last week. His Leogang adventure began with pre-qualis, which he won ahead of the Russian Pavel Alekhin. Later that afternoon, Nyquist first run wasn’t enough to make it to the finals and unfortunately he crashed on a flip double barspin in his second run. The spectators were pleased to see Ryan ride in Leogang and the mountain bikers hope to welcome him again at more contests.

YT Industries Releases The Capra AL1 In Extra Large

YT’s Capra dropped like a highly acclaimed bomb in the mountain bike community last year, and the engineers of the Forchheim manufacturer have now added a much sought-after XL size to the Capra AL1 – for all the larger-than-life shredders out there! If like YT athlete and Red Bull Rampage hero Kelly McGarry you are not of average size, but rather tend to rise a bit above it all, it is often hard to fully enjoy your riding with regular sized frames. And even YT’s all-rounder Capra is more difficult to pilot properly if your body size does not match the frame’s geometry and dimensions. It is good news then that YT now comes to rescue of all the biking giants out there with the forthcoming release of the Capra AL1 in XL.

Available for sale immediately and deliverable in December, the XL Capra AL1 shares the spec of its smaller brothers (see the specifications and geo tables below). As for the Capra AL2, it will likely only be available in XL as of 2016.

Aside from the larger frame size, the XL Capra AL1 delivers all the characteristics of YT’s flagship enduro bike: robustness, fun-oriented geometry, and well-rounded capabilities that make it as suitable for long trail rides as it is for bike park airtime missions. For those who like it extra large but don’t want to give up on agility and liveliness, the Capra AL1 XL is the perfect companion for every occasion!
